hi there! i've been wanting to make a comic for a long time, until i realized i could just... start making one, instead of just thinking about it really hard. this is based on one of my favorite nuzlocke runs i've done, and i hope y'all enjoy it too! this is my first long-form comic, so this will be mostly for experience and fun, and hopefully? entertainment?

im gunning for a ~monthly update schedule, but with school + The World it might bit on and off.

now has a (work-in-progress) tumblr blog!

Spoiler: rules

rules:
1. if a pokemon faints, into the pc they go.
2. you can only catch one pokemon per route, and only the first non-duplicate normal-type pokemon you encounter.
3. you get three chances to find a non-dupe normal type, then you're done for the route.
4. for special cases:
4a. you can use pokemon that will lose their normal-typing upon evolution (like azurill!) but you still can't use it's evolutions. (so still no marill or azumarill.) if you accidentaly evolve it, ya gotta box it.
4b. normal-type gift pokemon are legal, even if you've already caught a pokemon in that "area"!
4c. normal-type safari pokemon are allowed with one catch per safari zone.
5. nickname your pokemon, of course!

This comic looks so soft! It's not often you see a monolocke comic, of all things. As anyone who's been around me long enough knows, I love monotype runs, and this one is no exception! I'm sure I'll be following eagerly.

Oh I love this already? The style is so delightful, I love the texture of the brush you're using and the color scheme and the lineless backgrounds, it all comes together in such a cozy way. It's only been one page but I'm already endeared to Poko and their trainer, such a good zigzagoon child, digging up potion, bristling at danger. I'll definitely be watching to see where this comic goes, it can only go well.

thank you!! a part of why i chose to do a normal-type run was because i realized it would encourage me to use a lot of pokemon i never have before, like slaking and castform! i guess we'll see if i was good enough at video games to catch all of them, lol.

thank you!! i had never really done a monolocke before this run, and it was a really fun way to limit the amount of total pokemon i could use + managing normal type pokemon's weaknesses especially in the gen with a rock and fighting gym to start with lol

Honestly, that first panel is my favourite of this page. You can just feel the characters standing and letting the moment soak in, feeling the warm breeze. I love how this comic incorporates quiet, meaningful moments like that.
What's cuter than one fluffy Zigzagoon? Two fluffy Zigzagoons! The "Ah." in the last panel invokes a certain emotion that I really relate to, haha.
