Alright guys it's Q&A time! Again! Apparently I had already done two of these in the past and I have no memory of either of them.
A lot has happened since then, the cast is a little different now, and I need to remember how to draw everyone. To answer the question "Shinon why?": simply because I'm trying to learn the ropes with digital media and I figured doing something simple like a Q&A would serve as a fun way to both interact with my readers and get warmed up for the real deal. The next update is going to be my most ambitious one so far and I could really use the practise before tackling it.
So as you can see I have somewhat established the digital style (more on my decision to switch to digital in the previous update's description!). There is a lot of things I can fine tune and streamline but so far I'm quite happy with the looks. Layout, composition, sketching and lineart is working very nicely but what I'm still struggling with is the toning and shading part but I hope that's something a little practise will help with!
Canonically I think this session would fall to place before Nessa departed Mossdeep but I realized that adding Brendan just screws it up because he's in Pacifidlkgdldlgdf. Since Fenrir is who the fuck knows where and I need to start learning how to draw human characters as well I decided to add Brendan as well. From story perspective? I guess Nessa just needed the ca$h because her Pokémon eat more than the entire city of Mossdeep in a day probably.

The Q&A answers are here! I'm so happy that it didn't even take me a full month to finish this. It was such a good warm-up for the digital media, learned a bunch of tricks and got a pretty good feel for the style and all. I even made a font so I don't need to write things by hand anymore. I couldn't find a font that I liked so I made my own!

I got a pretty nice selection of questions! Unfortunately I couldn't answer all of them. There were some completely irrelevant ones, some you can just google answers for and some that just weren't interesting (and honestly if I got one euro for every question that had anything to do with the relationship of Nessa and Brendan I could actually get myself a terrible bottle of wine and get drunk so I didn't have to deal with it).
The answers should be pretty self-explanatory but a few comments. This Nuzlocke run is based on the Emerald version and it was done wayyy before anyone knew anything about ORAS. I'm not planning on including ORAS elements in the comic, there are enough plot holes and clutter as is. I might do some extras with Mega Evolution etc. but as far as the canon goes let's just pretend the Mega evolution tech is still being researched and isn't yet a thing in Hoenn.
Also Brendan's team has totally had names for years and at some point I planned to make a comic about how he named them but never did. Bestla the Wailmer is actually not part of Brendan's in-game team. It was my catch near Pacifidfldflgl and Brendan needed a proper swimmer for plot reasons so I gave Bestla to him.

Also Gis is am amazing chef and he totally makes sushi for the team every Friday.

I got so hyped when I saw this notification pop up!
I love this so muuuuuch, the digital style feels like a really nice and smooth transition, and it's amazing to see everyone again! Ragnar is WAY too adorable 😭 Centipedes are the bane of my existence but this little guy is great. Brandon's face in the question about dating him .... GOOOOOOOD omg your art style is just incredible, it feels like the perfect mix of digital and traditional. there's so many little details that i love like the shine on gis' skin, it really makes him look more amphibian, ey's adorable fur, the texture on the shading. and i love that your art style fits serious moments so perfectly whilst also having the ability to be super funny, like ygg's face when the banana drops. i've missed these guys a lot heheh 😁 keep up the awesome work bro! can't wait to read more!

It's finally here. It's been a bit turbulent in the past years and writing this update was a major pain in the ass. I lost the count of how many times I rewrote it and even in the end I'm not 100% happy with it but I decided I'd rather just get it done and move onto more inspiring events that sit on it until I get hemorrhoids. Also this update was originally longer but I decided to deviate from my "three parts per chapter" and part four will be the last part of this chapter.
I also made the decision to switch from traditional to digital which made the process a little bit different but I can safely say that it's gotten pretty smooth by now. There are some things I might change about the way I work to make things even smoother but I'll figure it out as I go.
I feel like I say this every time but I have no intention of abandoning this comic at this time. It's living rent free in my head and it needs to get out. I will try to finish it but unfortunately life isn't all fun and comics all the time so it may take a while.
So yeah. Ocean pals?

I think the swap to digital still definitely works well hand-in-hand with the traditional pages. I think it even really shines when it comes to the end sequence, with the painty backgrounds and the bright highlights. I am so extremely hyped, the tension in the story has only continued even though we literally see kyogre being caught at the end. I can think of a few scenarios playing out from here and honestly, they're all pretty scary!

The Steven/Wallace dynamic is an endless source of fun! Oh shit oh fuck his Gym.......
The whole atmosphere with the dark clouds and heavy rain looks so good, very threatening! You can feel that this is not an ordinary rainstorm just from seeing that.

I literally went back and reread the last third or so of the story to make sure I remembered every and HOO BOY this is gonna be good stuff, I was not expecting Nessa to catch Kyogre so I wonder where things are gonna go from here?

Thank you so much! Yeah while I feel like I was able to convey a lot of the studd I wante in pencil digital just makes some things a bit more convenient and I can fully utilize my skills to draw scenes like that. I'm pretty excited to get to the main event!

I can't believe it's been over a decade. There were some gaps that didn't have any Nuz content whatsoever but what can I say. Been a heck of a journey!
Back to working on the next update I go! The rough sketching is all complete and I'm now working on more detailed sketches, panels, text, bubbles and even some lineart because I have no structure lol.
